Museums as Agents of Change
Museums are on the move. No longer places of gathered dust and historic artefacts, musums are now habitats for progressive thought and community engagement.
From Museum for the United Nations - UN Live to the Horniman Museum in London, from the Beiruit Museum of Art in Lebanon, to the Explora Park in Medellin, Colombia, museums are breaking out, now places for forward looking open discussion and connection that can help us to recognise our shared humanity.
The global movement of museums as agents of change draws together the arts, science and humanities and thus brings together humanity in ways that governments, through international collaboration ought, but sadly, as increasingly witnessed, don’t.
Please note: The Olive Network (ON) was created for this very purpose – in the internet age to work laterally beyond borders, to foster long-term thinking, to empower people with vision and a drive for equality and social good. The work of charities, NGO’s, International Orgs, the arts, science - museums and educational institutions far outweighs the sense and practical purpose of hierarchical national governments as a way forwards beyond the pandemic and finding resolutions to the climate crisis.
